We’re Here When You Need Us
A one-man auger is fine until it hits a root or a rock. Then it either stalls or it spins the operator, and both are bad. A two-man auger puts a second set of hands on the opposite handle, which means the torque goes into the ground instead of into somebody's wrists — and that lets the machine use all 190 ft-lbs it makes.
This is the 1-3/8 in. hex drive version. Hex is the more common standard across the auger-bit market, so if you already own bits or you want the widest choice when you buy them, this is the one to get. It takes bits up to 18 inches in diameter and drills to 36 inches deep — or 51 inches with the optional extension.
The 25:1 spur gear reduction is what turns the Honda GXV160's speed into digging torque at 144 RPM at the bit. Fence posts, deck footings, sign posts, tree planting, soil sampling, ice fishing — this is the machine that does a day of holes without a tractor.
