A forward-only plate compactor has to be turned around at the end of a trench. A reversible does not — and in a trench, that is the whole argument. The BravePro BRPRP220H travels forward and backward on a hydraulic control lever, so the operator works a trench, a footing or a confined pad by walking the machine up and back without ever lifting or spinning it.
It delivers roughly 6,744 pounds of centrifugal force through a 27 x 20-inch plate at 5,400 vibrations per minute — enough for sand, gravel and cohesive soils under pads, driveways and structural backfill. A cast-iron vibrator assembly carries that load, and an isolated handle keeps the vibration out of the operator's hands and shoulders across a full shift.
Practical details matter on a machine this heavy: the handles fold from 45 to 90 degrees for transport, a heavy-duty roll cage protects the engine when it is dropped into a trench, reverse travel carries its own safety protection, and the wheel kit is included rather than sold separately.

The machine shown is the Brave BRPFP130H, a smaller 16-inch forward-travel plate compactor with a Honda GX160 — same manufacturer and the same controls and handling, but it is forward-only and lighter. The machine on this page is 20 inches wide, reversible, and roughly twice the compaction force.
