Most walk-behind trenchers cut a straight line and leave you to deal with the spoil. The BravePro BRPT9SH5 does neither. A positive steering mechanism lets the operator walk smooth curves — which is what bed edging actually requires — and the rotor throws the excavated dirt into a neat pile right beside the trench, ready to back-fill with a rake instead of a shovel.
It cuts to 9 inches deep and anywhere from 1/2 inch to 9 inches wide depending on the rotor fitted, at up to 30 feet per minute. That covers landscape edging, burying low-voltage cable and irrigation line, laying landscape brick, and light utility work. Tungsten carbide rotor points hold their edge in the rocky, root-filled ground where these machines earn their keep.
The rotors change out easily and that is the point of the machine — one chassis, several jobs. It ships with the 5-inch bed edging rotor fitted; other widths are available. A Honda GX270 drives it through a double belt and pulley system, and the machine tracks with minimal turf damage, which matters when the customer is looking at their lawn afterwards.
