This is a forward plate built for asphalt, and the water tank is the reason. Hot asphalt sticks to a dry steel plate and tears the mat you just laid; the 15 litre (4 gallon) onboard tank wets the plate continuously so it releases cleanly. If you are compacting patches, driveways, trench reinstatements or paver bedding, this is the machine for it — and at 525 x 500 mm the plate is nearly square, which is unusual and deliberate: it gives you a wide footprint without the length that makes a plate awkward to steer in a patch.

It runs 100 Hz — 6,000 vibrations per minute, the highest frequency Beton Trowel builds, at 15 kN of centrifugal force. High frequency and moderate force is precisely the recipe for asphalt and granular bedding: it settles the material without displacing it or bruising the surface.

Power is a Yanmar L48 air-cooled diesel — 219 cc, recoil start. On a machine that spends its life at full throttle in heat and dust, a diesel simply lasts longer than a small gas engine doing the same duty, and it means one fuel on the truck if the rest of your fleet is diesel.

Specifications

Three honest notes. The model code: Beton Trowel's own manual, product page and category listing all spell this BTPC110Y. Several US distributor feeds spell it "BPTC110Y" with the letters transposed. Same machine — we use the factory spelling and list the other so you can find it either way. The force figure: Beton Trowel's machine manual says 15.0 kN and its website says 20 kN. We publish 15 kN, the manual's figure, because the engineering document and an independent distributor both agree on it — we would rather under-claim than over-claim. Ask and we will put the question to the factory. It is forward-only. At least one overseas distributor describes this machine as having hydraulic forward/reverse; Beton Trowel lists it in its forward plate category and the factory's own brochure filename says forward. If you need reverse, look at the reversible range instead. Crated shipping weight is not published and we will not invent one.
