MechMaxx 0831VD 8" x 16" Benchtop Metal Lathe with DRO
The MechMaxx 0831VD is a benchtop metal lathe fitted with a digital readout (DRO) and a 1.5 HP (1.1 kW) brushless DC motor that runs on 110V single-phase power. It swings 8-1/4 in. (210 mm) over the bed and holds 15-3/4 in. (400 mm) between centers.
Speed is variable from 0 to 2,500 RPM in two electronically controlled ranges, with a digital RPM display. The one-piece spindle has a 1-1/2 in. (38 mm) bore and an MT5 taper, and it runs on tapered roller bearings.
Two Variable Speed Ranges
Low range runs 0-1,250 RPM and high range 0-2,500 RPM, set with a speed control knob.
Digital Readout Fitted
The DRO shows position in real time, so you cut to a number instead of counting handwheel turns. Change gears and a thread dial indicator handle inch and metric threading.

Does it come with a stand?
No. The 0831VD is a benchtop lathe and is sold without a stand, so plan a sturdy bench that can carry its weight.
How does the speed control work?
The brushless motor has two electronically controlled ranges, 0-1,250 RPM and 0-2,500 RPM. You set the speed with a knob and read it on the digital RPM display.
What is the difference between the 0831V and 0831VD?
The 0831VD adds a digital readout (DRO). The motor, swing, spindle and capacities are the same, and both are covered by the same MechMaxx manual.
