Powermatic 1285 12-Inch Parallelogram Jointer, Straight Knife, 3 HP, 230V 1Ph
The Powermatic 1285 is a 12-inch parallelogram jointer with an 84 x 12 inch cast iron table and a 3 HP single phase, 230V motor. It joints boards up to 11-3/4 inches wide and cuts rabbets up to 3/4 inch deep.
The cutterhead runs at 5,000 RPM with three high-speed steel knives. Cast iron table lips on both sides of the cutterhead help cut down operating noise.
Parallelogram Tables
The tables move on parallel links that keep them close to the cutterhead, so depth changes are fast and the tables hold alignment. Powermatic recommends a maximum of 1/8 inch per jointing pass.
Rack-and-Pinion Fence
The 47-1/4 x 5-1/4 inch cast iron fence moves on a rack and pinion and locks in place. It tilts 45 degrees in and out with preset stops at 45 degrees and a positive stop at 90.
