Baileigh RWP-220-1.0 Tank Welding Turning Rolls, 44,000 lb Capacity, 19.7 to 137.8-Inch Dia., 220V 3Ph

The RWP-220-1.0 is a two-piece rotary weld positioner, a powered drive rotator plus a matching idler rotator, that turns tanks, vessels and large pipe while you weld. It is rated for 44,000 lb (19,958 kg) and runs on 220V, 3-phase, 60 Hz power.

It handles work from 19.7 in. up to 137.8 in. in diameter on 13.77 in. rubber rollers. Two 1.5 HP motors drive two of the four rollers, and an AC inverter varies the surface speed from 3.93 to 39.36 in. per minute.

Wireless hand-held control

A wireless controller carries the E-stop, forward/stop/reverse switch, speed dial and a lock button that holds the speed and direction settings.

Separate drive and idler units

The two frames are set parallel on a level floor and spaced to suit the diameter of the work, then anchored down.

Baileigh welding turning roll questions

What power does the RWP-220-1.0 need?

220V, 3-phase, 60 Hz. The manual asks for connection by a certified electrician and warns against power sources other than direct 3-phase without consulting Baileigh or an electrician first.

What size work will it turn?

Round work from 19.7 in. (500 mm) to 137.8 in. (3500 mm) in diameter, up to 44,000 lb (19,958 kg). The manual says not to use elliptical or out-of-balance work.

How is it installed?

Set the drive and idler units parallel on a flat, level floor, space them for a roller contact angle between 52 and 88 degrees, and anchor them to concrete at least 4 in. thick (6 in. preferred). The gearboxes are filled with oil during setup.

Where does the welding ground connect?

To the workpiece. The manual says not to ground to the rotator frame, as that causes damage and voids the warranty.

What is the warranty?

1 year (Baileigh).
