Baileigh WBS-37H 37 x 60-Inch Wide Belt Sander, 10 HP, 460V 3Ph

The WBS-37H is the 460V, three-phase version of Baileigh's 37 x 60 in. wide belt sander for deburring, slag removal and surface finishing of metal parts. A 10 HP main motor drives the abrasive belt at 2650 FPM while an inverter-driven conveyor feeds parts under the head.

It accepts parts up to 37 in. wide and from 1/16 in. to 6 in. thick, with a minimum part length of 8 in. and a maximum workpiece weight of 1,764 lbs. Conveyor feed is variable from 2 to 26 FPM.

Automatic Height and Belt Tracking

Baileigh lists automatic sanding height adjustment with a digital readout and 10 programmable presets. Optical belt-tracking sensors keep the abrasive centered, backed by mistracking limit switches.

Layered Operator Safety

An emergency stop button, an emergency stop bar under the infeed and an interlocked side access door all shut the machine down. Baileigh states the door interlocks are UL 987 certified.

Baileigh wide belt sander questions

What power does the WBS-37H need?

460V three-phase service. The manual calls for a 45A breaker and 6 AWG minimum supply conductors, with a full-load current of 19A. No extension cords; a licensed electrician should make the connection.

How thin and how small a part can it sand?

The minimum thickness is 0.0625 in. (1/16 in.) and the minimum part length is 8 in. For smaller parts down to 2 x 2 in., Baileigh offers the vacuum-conveyor WBS-37V and WBS-37VH.

Do I need a dust collector?

Yes. The manual says not to run the machine unless the 5 in. dust chute on top is connected to a properly sized dust collection system rated for metal sanding. A collector is not included.
