A walk-behind floor saw is what you use when the cut has to be straight and deep — trenching a slab for conduit or pipe, cutting expansion joints, opening a section for repair. A handheld cutoff saw wanders and only goes so deep; this rides on wheels and holds a line.
Takes 14 in. through 20 in. blades, so one machine covers shallow joint work and deep trenching. Honda GX390 — 13 hp, enough to keep a 20 in. blade in the cut without bogging.
The water tank is not a nicety. It feeds the blade at the right flow to keep the dust down and the segments cool; a dry-cut blade in a slab burns out fast and puts silica in the air. Blade sold separately so you can match it to what you are cutting — green concrete, cured concrete and asphalt all want different segments.
