The Powermatic 201HH is a heavy cast iron 22-inch planer that takes boards up to 9-1/4 inches thick. A 7-1/2 HP 230V single phase motor powers the cutterhead, and a two-speed gearbox feeds at 20 or 30 FPM.

The 201HH runs a 5-row helical cutterhead with 125 four-sided carbide inserts. It cuts quieter than straight knives and leaves a cleaner surface, and each insert is rotated to a fresh edge when it dulls.

Plane Several Boards at Once

A segmented infeed roller and sectional chip breaker hold boards of different thicknesses, so you can feed more than one at a time. Two adjustable bed rollers can be set for rough lumber or for finish passes.

Built Heavy

The cast iron table rides on a 2-column support, and the machine weighs about 1,350 lbs, which keeps it steady through heavy cuts. It carries Powermatic's 5-year warranty.

How thick and how wide a board can it plane?

Up to 22 inches wide and 9-1/4 inches thick. The minimum is 1/8 inch thick and 10 inches long.

How deep can it cut in one pass?

Up to 3/16 inch.

What power does the 201HH need?

This model has a 7-1/2 HP 230V single phase motor. Powermatic says it should be on a dedicated circuit sized to the motor nameplate; have an electrician size the breaker.

What happens when the inserts dull?

Each carbide insert has four cutting edges. Rotate it to a fresh edge, and replace it once all four are used.
