Powermatic PJ1696T ArmorGlide 16-Inch Parallelogram Jointer, Helical Cutterhead, 7-1/2 HP, 460V 3Ph
The Powermatic PJ1696T is a 16-inch industrial parallelogram jointer with a 16 x 96 inch cast iron table and a 7-1/2 HP three-phase motor. It is sized for face-jointing wide stock.
The 4-inch helical cutterhead turns at 5,200 RPM with 56 two-sided carbide knife inserts plus 2 rabbeting inserts, and a rabbeting table handles rabbets up to 3/4 inch deep.
ArmorGlide Tables
The infeed and outfeed tables, fence and rabbeting ledge carry Powermatic’s ArmorGlide coating, an industrial-grade low-friction, corrosion-resistant finish. Keep metal or sharp objects from striking it.
Parallelogram Tables
The tables ride on parallel links that keep them close to the cutterhead for quick, accurate depth changes. Maximum depth of cut is 1/8 inch; Powermatic advises no more than 1/16 inch per pass when face jointing.
Rack-and-Pinion Fence
The 47-1/4 x 5-1/4 inch cast iron fence adjusts by rack and pinion, tilts 45 degrees forward and back, and has positive stops at 45, 90 and 135 degrees.

How wide a board can it joint?
Up to 16 inches wide, with a 1/8 inch maximum depth of cut (1/16 inch recommended for face jointing) and rabbets up to 3/4 inch.
