The Powermatic PJ882HHT is an 8-inch parallelogram jointer with an extra-long 83-inch table and a 2 HP, 230V single-phase motor. The cutterhead runs at 7,000 RPM with 54 four-sided carbide inserts in 6 rows.
The parallelogram design allows independent adjustment of sections of the infeed and outfeed tables, so the tables remain parallel with the cutterhead and with each other. A 1/8-inch depth limiter knob controls how much comes off in one pass.
ArmorGlide Tables
The infeed and outfeed tables and fence carry Powermatic’s ArmorGlide coating, an industrial-grade low-friction, corrosion-resistant finish that does not require cleaning with solvents. Keep hard or sharp objects off it, as they can damage the coating.
Helical Cutterhead
The 6-row helical head shears the wood with 54 four-sided carbide inserts. A dull insert is rotated to a fresh edge instead of resetting a full knife.
Fence and Controls
The 38 x 4-3/4 inch fence tilts 45 degrees forward and back with positive stops at -45, 90 and +45 degrees, adjusted with a single handwheel. The start/stop switch mounts on a switch arm and has a magnetic safety key.

Powermatic jointer questions
Can it run on 115V?
No. Powermatic’s manual says the single-phase jointer is designed for 230V only and should be on a dedicated circuit of at least 20 amps.
How deep can it cut?
Up to 1/8 inch per pass across the full 8-inch width.
What happens when the inserts dull?
Each carbide insert has four edges. Rotate it to a fresh edge, and replace it once all four are used. Spare inserts and screws come in the box.
What is a parallelogram jointer?
Powermatic’s parallelogram design allows independent adjustment of sections of the infeed and outfeed tables, so the tables remain parallel with the cutterhead and with each other.
What warranty does it carry?
Powermatic covers it with its 5-year warranty (2 years for commercial or industrial use).
